Chelmsford, MA Home and a Water Loss. B&A

This home in Chelmsford was the recipient of a high volume of unwanted water. The water heater burst and the pressurized line spewed many gallons of water onto the Pergo flooring. These floorboards were removed as they warped and were not salvageable. Our SERVPRO team, as shown in the Before Photo, attempted to at least salvage the plywood subfloor over this low-slung crawlspace. Our low-profile air movers are directly the warm air to maximize the drying rate. The plywood sheathing delaminated and eventually, our crew was forced to pry up and discard this subfloor. We strive to restore and not replace building elements after a water-damaging event. However, best practices dictate the final result. The After Photo shows the reinforced floor joists exposed (with a poly vapor barrier beneath) and ready for topical spraying of an antimicrobial agent to inhibit the growth of mold.
